Our Ambassadors

For AtaLoss.org, collaboration is key to ensuring that we deliver the best possible support to bereaved people and the professionals that support them. We are delighted that the following people have agreed to be ambassadors and advocates for AtaLoss.org. We value them highly.

Sandra Godley

Sandra Godley Radio Presenter, Singer & Songwriter

Sandra is delighted to be the Media Ambassador for AtaLoss. She has worked with UCB radio and Radio Plus as a Presenter and currently presents two shows for BBC Coventry and Warwickshire (CWR). She counts it a privilege to have ‘held hands’ with many who have become bereaved. In 2019, Sandra lost her aunt to Covid, leaving a large hole in the family, especially as no one was able to say goodbye. So she wrote a song of reflection to help put to words the grief and loss experienced. ‘My Darling’ was launched during national Grief Awareness Week in 2021, raising funds for three charities. ITV news featured the song as well as many other media outlets. Sandra says,

"I'm on a mission to help signpost people of all walks of life to know where they can get help and support during what is a very challenging time in their lives."

Lucy Coote Community Ambassador and Trainer, Rosedale Funeral Home

Having worked with the bereaved and delivered bereavement support training to many professions I know the importance of signposting. My belief is getting the right support at the right time can ensure that people do not get stuck in their grief. AtaLoss.org offers a unique service that is open to all. I am proud to be one of their Ambassadors.

Jamie Hawke Dignity Funeral's Regional Manager for the South West

As a Funeral Director, experienced bereavement counsellor, Examiner for the National Association for Funeral Directors (NAFD) and previously President for the NAFD Cornwall Federation, I am immersed in the funeral industry and meet bereaved people every day. I am glad that I and my colleagues have a fantastic resource like AtaLoss.org to signpost bereaved clients to and I'm delighted to be an AtaLoss Ambassador.

Beth French CEO & Director of 'Lets Talk About Loss' and Marketing Manager to the Princes Trust

I discovered there was very little support for bereaved young people when my mum Susan died. I was alone and confused. I started to blog about this and Let’s Talk about Loss was born. Since then we have established peer support groups for bereaved 18-35 year olds all across the UK. I'm delighted to be working with AtaLoss. We are both committed to ensuring grieving young people get the timely support they need.

Tracy Aslam
Corporate Director in Retail and Leisure Business

I understand just how lost I and my family felt after the tragic death of my brother. The easy access to services and information that AtaLoss.org offers was not available in my hour of need. It is an honour to offer my time as an Ambassador for such a critical and amazing charity to ensure people have somewhere to turn to when all around them is darkness.

Vicky Wilson Co-founder and CEO of Settld.

I realised, after my grandmother died, that bereaved families are faced with a stack of unnecessary and stressful admin, particularly when trying to notify multiple companies of the death of a loved one. That’s why Settld was born, so that you only have to say it once. We remove as much of the admin stress as we possibly can. Dealing with bereavement every day, as my team and I do, I understand just how important signposting is, and that’s why I’m proud to be an Ambassador for AtaLoss.org.

Catherine Betley  MD of Professional Help and Founder of GriefChat

I’ve been involved in delivering bereavement care services for over 20 years, so I know how important the work of AtaLoss.org is in enabling bereaved people to find the information and support they are looking for. I’m so pleased that AtaLoss.org and GriefChat work closely together to support people after a loss and I’m very proud to be an Ambassador.

Dr Marianne Trent Clinical Psychologist and Author

I am a Clinical Psychologist specialising in mental health and helping people recover from trauma. Author of 'The Grief Collective: Stories of Life, Loss & Learning to Heal.' It’s a unique collection of 54 real life stories by people who have experienced grief. I wanted to put this together so that people are not alone in their grief and also know how to support others who are grieving. I think this is where myself and AtaLoss have a really great crossover so I was delighted to have been asked to act as an ambassador.

Nicola Reed Area Manager, Cruse Scotland

I am passionate about having open conversations about death, dying and bereavement and know the importance of helping others to access, and have, those conversations. Good networking and signposting is, so often, key in enabling each other to access the right support, at the right time, with the right people so that those conversations can happen more easily. AtaLoss offers a great resource to anyone looking for that right support – whether they are bereaved themselves or supporting someone who is bereaved. I am delighted to become one of the Ambassadors and I am especially looking forward to seeing plenty more dots on the map of Scotland! Nicola is our AtaLoss Ambassador for Scotland

Sabine Horner, Nutritionist, Health Coach and Yoga Therapist

As a nutritionist, I know that good food can make a massive difference to balancing our emotions and mood. So I'm delighted to be working with AtaLoss to share what I know to help bereaved people who lack the energy, knowledge or skills to look after themselves well so that they can regain their sparkle and start to truly ‘live’ again. And it is invaluable to have AtaLoss.org to refer people to. I know my clients can find everything they need there from bereavement support to information and the GriefChat service.

Andrew Triggs Hodge OBE, Olympic and World Rowing Champion, Director of London Youth Rowing

Andrew Triggs Hodge OBE is a British former rower - a three time triple Olympic champion and four time world champion. In a British coxless four in 2012 he set a world's best time which still stood as of 2021. Andrew says 'Sport and physical activity has a huge benefit on personal wellbeing and mental health, as well as physical benefits. The pandemic has worsened the situation and caused a great deal of psychological distress. I was bereaved myself during 2020 so I know how important it is for all round well-being to keep fit at a time when you are feeling distressed and depressed. Participating in sport is a great way to meet others and begin to heal physically and mentally. I'm delighted that AtaLoss has invited me to be an Ambassador to help get this message out there.'

Other Ambassadors are:-
  • Pete English Trainer and advisor on bereavement support for young people
  • Georgia Elms Communications and Social Media Consultant
  • James MacDowall-Scott Bereavement support advisor
  • Roger Womack Bereavement support for men advisor
