Become an Associate

Why we want to associate with you

AtaLoss provides the UK’s bereavement signposting service for anyone bereaved across the UK and is also valued by everyone who works with bereaved people. Why? Because we can make their life easier.  We specialise in researching, listing and updating information to enable your clients, patients, employees or colleagues access the most comprehensive and up to date information about bereavement support there is. Over 1400 bereavement services (both local and national) are listed, can be provided in over 100 languages and is free to the user.

So you can see why we are keen to ensure that everyone knows about this amazing resource. No-one should flounder without bereavement support when they need it. But we do need other organisations to work with us to promote this service widely. Associates get our support in return.

Have a look at the following short video to understand how we help organisations prevent bereaved people becoming mental ill by signposting to early and appropriate support.

How we support organisations

What could being an AtaLoss Associate mean for you?

Associates are organisations which:-

  • Share our vision that everyone should know about where to find bereavement support and information when they need it so as to prevent mental ill health and promote well-being
  • Can help promote AtaLoss.org to their clients, patients, employees and audiences
  • Can provide support through funding, in kind or contribution
  • Are interested in working creatively with us to achieve mutual goals.

Here are five great ways in which working with us as an Associate can benefit your organisation:

  1. Timely information and advice

We’ll let you know when there is new research or a campaign on bereavement that may be of interest to you or could be shared in your network.

  1. Advocacy and influence

Much of our advocacy takes place 'below the line', where influence happens quietly but assertively. Our strength in advocacy comes from being the UK’s leading bereavement signposting service, which strives to maintain the highest possible standards. The pandemic has shone a light on the need for quality signposting to support both bereaved people and those working with them. Our service has come into its own and is recognised by Government, health providers and local authorities, as well as the funeral industry and social prescribers across the UK.

  1. Opportunities for learning

We deliver training that may be of interest to your organisation. Through our ListeningPeople Project we can provide specialist training if supporting bereaved young people and children is something you do.

Through our Loss and HOPE Project, we provide training and support for faith organisations who would like to lead the way in becoming bereavement friendly in their community.

Our AtaLoss.org signposting service provides employers and their HR teams with a very easy and effective way to support bereaved employees if mental health and wellbeing is important to you.

  1. Collaborate and improve

Opportunities for knowledge sharing and mutual promotion is good for you and good for us. We frequently invite Associates to contribute to our website - offering opportunities to promote their valuable service and expertise to our audience. We welcome feedback and are happy to give that to you too so that we can continually improve what we offer. Similarly, we would expect to be listed on Associate websites and would welcome invitations to contribute to blogs, newsletters, or other communications.

  1. National and local perspectives

We understand the importance of local networks, information, and communication channels. We are keen to shine a light on Associates providing a good service – local or national. We are frequently contacted by the national media looking for organisations to contribute to features and news items about bereavement. We often refer journalists to our Associates, giving them an opportunity to raise their profile.

If your organisation would like to have a discussion with us, please get in touch.
