Suicide Bereavement 1:1 Support Norfolk and Waveney Mind offer support and help for individuals who have been bereaved to suicide through our Suicide Bereavement Support Service – This includes next-of-kin, wider family and friends, first responders, witnesses and other professionals as needed. The project focuses on 1:1 support for individuals in the immediacy of loss, both emotionally and practically. This includes providing a listening ear, liaising with funeral directors and coroners, support around the inquest and signposting to other relevant support. This support is offered for up to 12 sessions from the date of bereavement to support with inquest, after which they can then be referred onto the group sessions.

This service is available to those who are 18+, live in Norfolk and Waveney and within 3 months of the date of bereavement OR before date of inquest.

Suicide Bereavement Group Support The primary purpose is to provide group support for individuals who have been bereaved or affected by suicide at any time. It focuses on creating a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space for individuals to connect via their shared experience, which reduces the feeling of isolation, shame and stigma that is still associated with suicide bereavement. The group is an 8-week structured support group that is run by facilitators (and on occasion lived experience volunteers). The groups are made available across Norfolk & Waveney Mind with details of new groups shared on our website.

This service is available to those who are 18+, live in Norfolk and Waveney and have faced a loss to bereavement at any time.

Bereavement Café These cafés provide a drop-in space for those that have been adversely affected by a bereavement to suicide to meet in an informal setting over a cuppa and cake. These are held currently in Aylsham, Norwich and Thetford with new café locations being added to our website. Current locations are –
