Martlets is a local charity, providing terminally ill people in Brighton and Hove, and surrounding areas, the very best care and support. Their expert team helps people do the things they love with the time they have and to feel hope, purpose and possibility.

Martlets’ bereavement service offers support to the family and friends of patients who have received care from Martlets – whether at the Hospice or out in the community. Their experienced counsellors provide one-to-one sessions at the Hospice, or via telephone or videoconferencing. They also have a team of specially trained bereavement volunteers who visit people at home.

Further support is offered through regular events. Monthly social evenings are an opportunity to meet others who have been bereaved, to make friends and to find a way to enjoy moments at a time of deep pain and loss. Remembrance events including A Time to Remember, Light Up a Life and a Pebble Memory Walk are also held throughout the year. Martlets also runs Earthworks, a weekly allotment group for bereaved men to meet and share their experiences of loss, with the opportunity to tend the allotment.
