Macmillan Support Services include an Information and Support service, a befriending service and a bereavement support service for anyone affected by bereavement whatever the cause. All services are accessible to adults affected (including carers) living in Northumberland. Anyone may contact the service for information.

They also provide a range of groups and events. These include a Drop In, Health and Wellbeing sessions, Living well with Cancer course, HOPE course, Walk and Talk groups and Craft Groups.

For Befriending or Bereavement Support a referral from a health professional is required. On receipt of the referral a member of the team will telephone the person. They will then identify the most appropriate support based on their individual needs at the time. Each person who would benefit from someone to talk to on a one to one basis will be allocated an appropriately trained and supervised volunteer. Volunteers offer a supportive, confidential and non-judgmental relationship, which can assist the person through a difficult time.

They offer:

  • Bereavement support
  • Cancer information materials
