AtaLoss is delighted that our Patron, Dame Sarah Mullally, has been installed as Archbishop of Canterbury.

We were extremely honoured to be in the 2,000 people at the historic installation in Canterbury on 25th March. Our CEO, Yvonne Tulloch, and James Normand, Chair of Trustees, attended alongside global church leaders, the Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and the Prince and Princess of Wales.

It was wonderful to be there as one of Archbishop Sarah’s chosen charities and to resonate with her vision:

“A church for the whole nation and for the world, which looks for ways of joining with people of all faiths and none, in acts of service that will transform.”

A voice for bereavement

Archbishop Sarah has been an advocate for those facing bereavement for many years. Her background in nursing and as a former Chief Nursing Officer, has provided her with a profound understanding of grief, loss and care. This has shaped her ministry and led to her leading the UK Commission on Bereavement that did much to shine a light on how bereavement affects individuals, families and communities across the UK.

On becoming our Patron, in October 2025, she said:

“I know from personal experience, not just as a priest but as a nurse, that too often people feel they are alone in their grief."

We are thrilled to see her begin this new chapter and join many others in looking forward to the difference she will make.

AtaLoss is a UK wide charity helping bereaved people find support and wellbeing by raising awareness about the impact of bereavement; directing to help through the signposting website ataloss.org; and training and equipping community support, including through The Bereavement Journey® programme.

Yvonne Tulloch, CEO and Founder at AtaLoss is available by prior arrangement.

Media interviews can be arranged via WhatsApp message to Adam May on 07736 949 869 or press@ataloss.org
