AtaLoss is a UK wide Bereavement Charity. Please help us reach everyone who has been bereaved.
Looking ahead - our tenth year vision
Over the past ten years, AtaLoss has grown from a single vision into a national movement, changing the way bereavement is understood and supported.
With the subject of death and bereavement now opening up and opportunities burgeoning we want to build on this momentum and reach many more bereaved people across the UK.
Our Aims Are:
A nation that understands and supports bereavement
Public awareness of grief and its impact is increasing, yet millions still do not know where to turn for support.
With sufficient funding, we can:
Grow our media presence to keep bereavement on the public agenda and for individuals to understand grief.
Enhance our visibility through campaigns and events.
Advocate for bereavement support to be embedded in legislation and public policy through the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Grief Support and the Impact of Death on Society.
Campaign for increased resourcing of bereavement support.
Every bereaved person able to find the right support
AtaLoss.org is already the UK’s most comprehensive bereavement signposting hub.
With sufficient funding, we can:
Extend AtaLoss.org’s reach and strengthen its support by enhancing its content, including for under-represented groups.
Use AI and latest technology to continually upgrade our website and improve user pathways, ensuring it remains the trusted ‘go to’ place for bereavement information and resources.
Deepen partnerships with key sectors where bereaved people often turn for help, making AtaLoss.org and The Bereavement Journey® visible at the point of need in healthcare, local government, workplaces, financial and legal services, faith groups, funeral directors and crematoria.
Provide general and CPD-accredited online grief support training for managers, public services and anyone wanting to understand their own grief or help someone who has been bereaved.
Bereavement support in every community
Our aim is for every bereaved person to be supported in their community. We want The Bereavement Journey® to be available in every town, city and rural area across the UK – in workplaces, universities, retreat centres, healthcare centres, senior living communities, as well as churches. Churches, in particular, are present in every community and are a rich source of volunteer resource.
In partnership with Prison Fellowship and Scottish prison chaplains we have completed 7 successful pilots of The Bereavement Journey® for delivery across the prison system of England, Wales and Scotland.
In collaboration also with Anna Chaplaincy, we are piloting the programme for wider coverage of care homes and elderly people and with RAF chaplains for Armed Forces use. We have also been exploring the feasibility of a bespoke The Bereavement Journey® for youth.
With sufficient funding, we can continue to expand The Bereavement Journey® to every community throughout the UK, in:
Churches of all denominations, continuing to train them to become Bereavement Friendly Communities, and to support young people through loss.
Workplaces and community groups through Chaplains and church volunteers.
Prisons across England, Wales and Scotland – extending to Northern Ireland too.
Care homes, the military and a special version for youth.
