Kathryn Jarman

Kathryn Jarman has worked across the public sector in a range of areas spanning across Education, Defence, Healthcare, and Emergency Services. With a passion for sharing experiences through education and hands on activities, Kathryn has lived and volunteered across the World from refugee camps in Former Yugoslavia to training staff at the National Autism Society of Malaysia. Kathryn is currently involved in supporting the development of children’s cancer services and bereavement support for families who have lost a child. This stems from lived experience having supported her daughter in hospitals throughout the UK after she became unwell.

Kathryn’s daughter Rosie suddenly became poorly at the age of 14 when she was unexpectedly diagnosed with a very rare cardiac tumour. After 9 months of specialist cancer treatment across the UK during the Covid-19 epidemic, Rosie tragically passed away at the age of 15.

Due to the exceptionally rare nature of her cancer, Rosie wanted to help support Medical Professionals and other young people and families learn from her experience. She had the fortitude and resilience during her own journey, to write a book ‘A Mountain In My Heart’. Kathryn and her family continue to strive to fulfil Rosie’s legacy by sharing their lived experience and working alongside other families affected by childhood cancer.

Currently Kathryn sits on advisory boards of the Evelina Children’s Hospital London (Guys & St Thomas) for the development of the new Principal Treatment Centre for children with cancer in London and the Southeast. She has also recently become part of the bereavement support focus group with Young Lives vs Cancer.

Passionate about supporting charities that have supported her family along their journey, alongside donating proceeds from the sales of Rosie’s book as per Rosie’s wishes Kathryn continues to advocate and fundraise for charities such as Dreams & Wishes Newport and Evelina London Children’s Charity.
