AtaLoss, the UK’s national bereavement charity, has warmly welcomed the appointment of its Patron, the Rt Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally, as the next Archbishop of Canterbury.

Having been Chair of the UK Commission on Bereavement, with much distinguished leadership in health and social care, we are confident that Bishop Sarah will use her new role to give voice to those facing grief and bereavement, and to bring hope and compassion to the life of the Church and the nation. “We are delighted for Bishop Sarah and warmly congratulate her on her appointment as Archbishop of Canterbury. Her deep understanding of the impact of bereavement and her compassion for those who are grieving will serve the nation well in her new role. Bishop Sarah has long been a voice for those facing loss, and we are confident she will continue to champion awareness and understanding of bereavement at every level of society.”
