Our Celebrity Ambassadors Share their Bereavement Stories

Jackie Clune

“As a society we’re not very good at standing alongside someone who’s grieving. That’s why At a Loss is so important. It gives people clear signposts when they’re feeling alone.”

Known for her role as the formidable Mrs Lamb in the BBC comedy Motherland, Jackie speaks candidly in this video about her own experiences of grief and the importance of having clear, compassionate support.

Drawing on her personal bereavements and her insight into how society often struggles to support those in pain, Jackie highlights why accessible signposting through AtaLoss.org matters so much, especially during National Grief Awareness Week.

Darragh Ennis

“My father died last year and AtaLoss has been a huge help to me - and it can help you in your bereavement journey.”

After the death of his father, Darragh found support through AtaLoss and speaks openly about the reality of coping after a bereavement, the pressures many people face, and the importance of having somewhere to turn.

Known to many as ‘The Menace’ on ITV’s The Chase’, his story is a reminder that none of us should face grief without support and that the right support can make a real difference.

Lisa Coupland

“What we all need is understanding, support and safe spaces where our grief can breathe. That’s why AtaLoss matters so much to me.”

A former contestant on BBC’s The Traitors, Lisa is a Church of England priest recognised for her warmth, honesty and ability to speak openly about life’s most challenging moments.

Here, Lisa shares the personal losses that shaped her understanding of grief - from the death of the grandparents who raised her, to walking alongside loved ones through dementia and long goodbyes. Her story highlights how isolating bereavement can feel and why the work of AtaLoss and others is essential in ensuring people have somewhere safe to turn.
