YDUK offers support services for young people with dementia (young onset dementia refers to people under 65) and their families. This includes individual support both before and after a bereavement. Some people who care for someone with dementia find that they have grieved the loss of the person for so long that they do not have strong feelings of grief when the person dies. Others do experience a range of emotional reactions including numbness, shock, pain or sadness. Look on the UDUK website for groups in your area that provide support and companionship after someone with dementia has died.
