SANE
SANE is a leading UK mental health charity improving quality of life for anyone affected by mental illness. The charity aims to raise awareness and understanding of all mental health conditions, combat the stigma surrounding mental illness and fight to improve frontline services for individuals and carers, and to provide compassionate and confidential support and information by phone, email and text.
Our services are confidential and below you can discover the support and guidance we provide to anyone affected by mental illness, as well as carers and families.
- SANEline - is a national out-of-hours mental health helpline offering specialist emotional support, guidance and information to anyone affected by mental illness, including family, friends and carers. We are normally open every day of the year from 4pm to 10pm on 0300 304 7000, serving the UK and Northern Ireland.
- Call Back Service - We also run a Call Back service offering support to anyone affected by mental health, including family members and carers and to those who may be unable to access SANEline during its daily opening hours. This service can offer a consistent supportive space by providing emotional support and the opportunity to discuss finding other forms of help or treatment which may be useful.
To use this service, please leave a voice message on 0300 124 7900 giving your first name and phone number, and we will call you back within a few days. Requests for a Call Back can only be made through our voicemail system. We are unable to provide a Call Back to anyone outside of the UK.
Please note this is not a crisis line and the Call Back service does not provide counselling or therapy.
- Email Support - Our email service is available for anyone who feels more comfortable writing down how they are feeling, or what support they would like. It is available at support@sane.org.uk. We reply to each email individually, and normally are able to respond within 72 hours.
- Textcare is designed to provide emotional support and connection at the times you need it most. We provide bespoke one-way messages directly to your mobile phone. This is a confidential service for those aged 16 and over, and each message sent will be individually written for you based on the information you give us via our website.
