Hope House & Tŷ Gobaith Counselling & Bereavement Support
This support is available to the bereaved families of children and young people up to 19 years of age at the time of death who were registered with the hospices and who live in Shropshire, Cheshire, Mid or North Wales.
Care offered for a hospice registered child or young person at the end of their life includes symptom management and additional support for family members and carers before, during and after death.
Immediate care after death can take place at the hospices or within your own home. The hospices have the equipment and the skills so that families can spend time saying goodbye in their own way and in their own time.
Practical and emotional support from the family support team is offered to bereaved family members to meet their needs. Counselling is available to family members bereaved of a hospice registered child from 3 months and up to 5 years after the death.
Families bereaved of a young person, up to 18 years at the time of death and living in our catchment area, who was not registered with the hospice can access Community Snowflake support. This includes care of the body at home, or in the hospice Snowflake bedroom, memory making, emotional support from care team and family support workers until a week after the funeral. This service is not available for families of neonates where death has occurred on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, hospitals have facilities to offer support under these circumstances.
