Bereavement Through Addiction (BTA) is a South West-based charity that supports people whose loved ones have died as a result of addiction. In partnership with DHI, BTA runs monthly face-to-face peer group meetings in Bath. These sessions are free and open to anyone who needs support.

BTA is a peer-run group, led by Richard, Jenny and Lesley. It is facilitated by a qualified counsellor. This service is free of charge and available to adults and young people (16+) in the South West of England, particularly: Bath & North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire and Bristol. They offer free peer-support group & special commemoration services for people aged 16 + who have lost someone to drug or alcohol addiction.

Based in the South West (Bristol/Bath), Bereavement Through Addiction offers a monthly peer-support meeting where those bereaved by substance-related deaths can meet others with similar experiences. An annual “Celebration of Life” service is held to remember loved ones and offer community support. The charity was founded in 2009 by parents who lost their son and is run by trustees who share the lived experience of loss through addiction.

Drop-in to the peer-support group (Tuesdays at 6:00–7:30pm, DHI offices, 14 St James Parade, Bath, BA1 1UL) or attend the annual service.
