Mandy Gosling

Mandy Gosling is a UKCP/MBACP accredited psychotherapist, Founder of ABC Grief and AtaLoss Subject Matter Expert on ‘Adults Bereaved as Children’. She said “It wasn’t until I began my training as a psychotherapist in my 40’s that I fully recognised how deeply my Mum’s death at age 9 had shaped me – and how it was still doing so. I hadn’t received any support when I was a child in 1973, and the adults around me considered it was best not to talk about what happened.

As I entered adulthood, I found myself struggling in ways I couldn’t fully understand. I couldn’t escape these struggles and life felt very overwhelming. I realised much later that the unresolved childhood grief I carried made everything more complicated. After my initial psychotherapy training of 5 years, I completed my MA research into the long-term impact of childhood bereavement. That set the course for my life’s work to support people who have experienced early life loss, as well as drive public awareness and continue my studies with a PhD. AtaLoss is a unique service for everyone who is bereaved and I’m proud to be one of their Subject Matter Experts”.
