Bereavement Support for Men
The Bereavement Support for Men (BSM) work gives opportunities for men to gather around activities and food, helping to provide a better understanding of their grief journey and to support them during times of loss.
The vision is to provide a national network of men’s groups and men’s events to help them understand better what a grief journey can look like, how to gain understanding along the way and become better equipped and adaptable to face life changing loss.
Events currently include a choice of different outdoor activity weekends including: Mountain Biking, Walking,Camping and Bushcraft, and Canoe Trips.
Ongoing peer support groups are available where men can come and find a safe place to connect with others who have also experienced bereavement. It’s a chance to gather, get involved in a project, go for a walk, or do some volunteer work and then enjoy some cake and a cuppa, or share a meal if it’s a longer day. The aim is also to have some fun along the way and get to know new people as well as exploring what it means to be bereaved.
