YMCA Childrens' Bereavement Service - Isle of Wight

YMCA Children’s Bereavement Service (YCBS) is a counselling service for bereaved children and young people. YCBS works with an open-ended service model which works to support each individual client and to assess their particular therapeutic needs. It is not uncommon for bereavement clients to leave the service and return to it when life presents them with situations and milestones that cause a resurgence of psychological distress that can have an impact on the natural course of their grief. The therapeutic model used by our therapists is flexible, using an integrated approach, it is mindful that bereavement is not pathological and that individuals do not grieve in isolation, but are part of a social unit.
